Digitmovies is proud to present for the very first time on CD the complete OST in full stereo by Ennio Morricone for the dramatic movie “Ogro” (aka  "Operación Ogro") directed in 1979 by Gillo Pontecorvo  and starring Gian Maria Volonté, José Sacristán, Ángela Molina, Eusebio Poncela, Saverio Marconi, Georges Staquet, Nicole Garcia, Féodor Atkine, Estanis González, Agapito Romo. The film tells a real event: the carrying-out of the attack on Luis Carrero Blanco, nicknamed "Ogro", that is the ogre (Romo) by Basque ETA separatists, on December 20th , 1973 . The plan, conceived by the organization that fought for the independence of the Basque country in Spain, is being developed with the use very few devices by four men: Ezarra, the boss (Volontè), Txabi (Poncela), Iker (Sacristán) and Luque (Marconi). Under the guise of bank officials, the group settles in Madrid and studies the plan, which originally involved the kidnapping of Carrero Blanco within the church where he went to mass every morning. Held hostage by the kidnappers, the government should have released 150 Basque political prisoners in exchange for his release. The plan changed when Carrero Blanco was appointed Chairman of the Board: since security measures were multiplied around him, it was decided to give it up. The four bombers, in fact, are intimately described by the director in their thoughts and attitudes during the eight months which preceded the attack: months in which, with great difficulty, they dug the tunnel under the road on which the successor of Francisco Franco would drive and, full of dynamite, would explode letting the admiral's car "fly" on top of a building. For the realization of our CD we could use the stereo master tapes of the original session which allowed us to re-create the assembly of the limited edition album which had been released in 1984 in the Phoenix series of CAM (PHCAM 04) with twelve tracks (30:21) (the tracks “Atto di dolore” e “Notte oscura notte chiara” also appeared on the 45 rpm CAM SPEC 3) and to add eight tracks discovered in the master, approved by the author, which led to a total time of 44:16. Ennio Morricone has composed musical moods suspended between religious and noir atmospheres (Tr. 1, Tr.7, Tr.16, Tr.18, Tr.20), alternated with marches (Tr. 3, Tr.4, Tr.8, Tr .14), and where suspenseful castanets intervene which give a certain ethnic connotation to the compositions (Tr.2, Tr.5, Tr.6, Tr.10, Tr.12, Tr.15). A great work of Ennio Morricone for a film that received discordant reviews.
