Im Rahmen unserer SP-Reihe präsentieren wir hiermit – zum ersten Mal überhaupt auf CD und obendrein in Stereo – eine echte Filmmusikrarität: Stelvio Ciprianis Score aus “Il venditore di palloncini” von Regisseur Mario Gariazzo. Der 1974 entstandene Film war Teil einer damals in Italien erfolgreichen Drama-Reihe, in deren Mittelpunkt stets ein Kind stand, welches am Ende der Story stirbt. Für “Il venditore di palloncini” stand Mario Gariazzo eine namhafte Besetzung zur Verfügung, darunter James Whitmore, Cyril Cusack, Lee J. Cobb und Adolfo Celi. Zu der Filmreihe gehören u. a. auch die von Franco Micalizzi vertonten Produktionen “L’ultima neve di primavera” (1973), “Bianchi cavalli d’agosto” (1975) und “L’albero dalle foglie rosa” (1976), deren Soundtracks Digitmovies auf einer Doppel-CD (Kat.-Nr.: CDDM 142) bereits veröffentlicht hat. Sowohl in jenen drei Filmen als auch in “Il venditore di palloncini” übernahm der kleine Renato Cestiè die Hauptrolle. Zum Inhalt: Die Tänzerin Maria (Marina Malfatti) lässt wegen ihres Liebhabers ihren Sohn Giacomino (Cestiè) nebst Ehemann zurück. Über die Jahre hinweg verdient sich Giacomino zusammen mit seinem Vater den Lebensunterhalt durch Puppenspiel bis er aufgrund einer schweren Form von Blutarmut angeschlagen in ein Krankenhaus eingeliefert wird. Noch vor seinem Tod erhält er Besuch von seiner Mutter und einem geheimnisvollen "Ballonverkäufer" (Cusack) … Mitte der 1970er Jahre erschien eine Single (Kat.-Nr.: PDU PA 1100) mit zwei Stereo-Tracks (Tracks 15 und 15 unserer CD): das Hauptthema in einer Pop-Orchesterversion sowie das vom damals 14-jährigen Robert Danna vorgetragenen "Ave Maria". Mehrfach von Stelvio-Cipriani-Fans gewünscht, konnten wir nur mit der Unterstützung des Komponisten auf die einzige existierende Kopie der Stereo-Masterbänder aus seinem hauseigenen Archiv zugreifen und für diese CD zusammenstellen. Nach mehr als 30 Jahren hat die Tonqualität bedauerlicherweise leiden müssen, sodass trotz restaurierender Bemühungen einige Unregelmäßigkeiten erhalten blieben. Ohne diese intensiven Rettungsarbeiten hätten wir diese 37 Minuten lange CD nicht realisieren können. Zwei Hauptthemen schrieb Stelvio Cipriani für “Il venditore di palloncini”: ein mit Cembalo, Klavier und Oboe aufspielendes Thema für die Welt des Zirkus und Vergnügungsparks (Tracks 1, 5, 8, 10, 14) sowie ein herzig-nostalgisches Thema für Giacomino (Tracks 3, 6, 13, 25). In Track 9 erklingt das Material thematisch verarbeitet im Klanggewand des typisch Ciprianischen Polizeifilms. Neben den Hauptthemen hält der Score zudem weitere musikalische Ausflüge in die Zirkuswelt bereit (Tracks 2, 4, 7, 12). Alles in allem stellt diese CD einen typischen Vertreter des Silver Age Italiens aus der Schaffensperiode des legendären Stelvio Cipriani vor.
