Digitmovies is pleased to present on CD for the first time ever, complete and in full stereo, the OST by Stelvio Cipriani for the dramatic thriller “La lunga spiaggia fredda” (“Death company”) directed in 1971 by Ernesto Gastaldi and played by Robert Hoffmann, Mara Maryl, Walter Maestosi, Riccardo Salvino, Joshua Sinclair, Claudio Trionfi, Fabian Cevallos. A married couple arrives at an isolated house by the sea to spend a happy days of love. During the first night, a gang of four motorcyclists break into the house. The husband (Maestosi) is tied up, and two of the thugs rape his wife (Meryl). The couple manage to escape, but in the meantime, the woman falls in love with gang leader, Freddie (Hoffman). For our CD, lasting a total of 49:51, we were able to access the stereo master tapes of the original recording session, which allowed us to publish every note recorded at the time. The late Franco De Gemini is the exceptional harmonica soloist (to whom we dedicate this CD). Stelvio Cipriani composed a single theme OST, dominated by a recurring nostalgic theme, elegantly introduced into Bossa beat with the organ and female vocals in the Main Titles (Tr. 1). This is reused in a slow and sensual version with the vocal skills of Nora Orlandi (Tr.2) and several variations with different arrangements (Tr. 3, Tr.4), such as those with the harmonica of Franco De Gemini (Tr.6, Tr.8, Tr.14, Tr.16, Tr.19). The composer created sophisticated and magical atmospheres with a lounge flavour (Tr.7, Tr.9, Tr.10, Tr.11, Tr.12, Tr.13, Tr.15, Tr.17) where the harpsichord, organ and female vocals are always the key elements. Music of tension and mystery (Tr. 5) and action (Tr.18) break the apparent tranquillity of the story.
