“La liceale” and “La liceale nella classe dei ripetenti” are two Italian comedies from the second half of the 70’s, starring the blonde actress Gloria Guida. “La liceale” was directed in 1976 by Michele Massimo Tarantini, specialist of erotic school comedies of the second half of the 70’s. The film tells the story of Loredana (Guida), a beautiful schoolgirl wooed by both his fellow students and teachers. Apart from Gloria Guida, the cast includes other actors faithful to the erotic comedy genre: Gianfranco D’Angelo as an awkward professor and Alvaro Vitali (leading star of various Pierino-movies), in the role of one of Guida’s class-fellows. “La liceale nella classe dei ripetenti”, directed in 1978 by Mariano Laurenti (another specialist of Italian comedies), the protagonist is once again the wonderful Gloria Guida in the role of Angela, a beautiful female student engaged with Tonino (Alvaro Vitali). However, she also catches the fancy of one of her other fellow-students. In this “sequel” of “La liceale” the erotic side, characteristic for the first movie, is less emphasized, while this movie gives more space to the comedy. In this film, the cast is enriched by the presence of Lino Banfi, in the role of the girl’s father. Digitmovies presents for the first time on record the complete original soundtracks from the movies “La liceale” and “La liceale nella classe dei ripetenti”. The music of “La liceale” was penned by Vittorio Pezzolla, a less known composer, who proved his talent with this only contribution for the cinema (as documented on the IMDB site). The score is monothematic and based on a romantic and joyful theme introduced in “Titoli di testa”, with pop arrangement using orchestra and whistle (Tr.1) and reprised in several variations throughout the score (Tr.3,Tr.6,Tr.8,Tr.12,Tr.15,Tr.16,Tr.17,Tr.18). Pezzolla recorded atmosphere music with a slight exotic touch, featuring the sexy voice of Nora Orlandi (Tr.2, Tr.9), and he also provided some source music like tangos (Tr.5, Tr.13) and a bossa (Tr.4). There is no need to introduce M° Gianni Ferrio, the author of the pleasant music from “La liceale nella classe dei ripetenti”. For this sequel some music from the previous film’s score was used, but our CD only contains the original music by Ferrio. The OST opens with the “Titoli di testa”, a brilliant, South American flavoured theme (Tr.19), reprised in Tr.25 and in “Finale” (Tr.29). Gianni Ferrio also provided a motif in style of the 20’s using moog (Tr.20), reprised in (Tr.22,Tr.28), and music in style between the typical Giallo and Police Movies scores, with a little lounge flavour (Tr.21, Tr.23,Tr.24,Tr.26,Tr.27). For this CD we have used the stereo / mono mastertapes stored int he historical archives of RCA.
