With big pleasure Digitmovies continues to release the scores of the awesome brothers Guido & Maurizio De Angelis by issuing on CD for the first time complete and in full stereo the scores from two funny late '70s comedy movies: "Tre tigri contro tre tigri" (aka "Three Tigers Against Three Tigers") is a movie in three episodes directed in 1977 by Sergio Corbucci and Steno (Stefano Vanzina): In the first episode with Renato Pozzetto, Cochi Ponzoni and Massimo Boldi, Don Cimbolano (Pozzetto) is a parish priest in a country town with a communist majority who sees his church full of believers only after the fake news has been spread that he had sexual intercourse with the wife of a protestant priest (Ponzoni). In the second episode starring Enrico Montesano and Dalila Di Lazzaro, a commercial traveller (Montesano) is actually a fugitive baited by an apparently noble and extremely "libertine" young woman, (Di Lazzaro), who in reality hides a candid camera behind her advances. In the third episode starring Paolo Villaggio, Anna Mazzamauro ,Daniele Vargas, Ferruccio Amendola, a lawyer (Villaggio) who is getting scarred by means of transportation, is forced to go through an incredible airplane experience. "Agenzia Riccardo Finzi…praticamente detective" (Aka "The Finzi Detective Agency") was directed in 1979 by Bruno Corbucci starring Renato Pozzetto, Simona Mariani, Lory Del Santo, Enzo Cannavale, Elio Zamuto. The movie is based on the novel by Luciano Secchi, better known as Max Bunker, which got released in 1978 and was the first book of a series where the main protagonist is the detective Riccardo Finzi. Searching for luck in Milan, Riccardo Finzi (Pozzetto) is a private eye who takes every opportunity he has to reveal details about his job to everyone he meets. One day he meets Susy (Del Santo) who first invites him in her house and then turns him out of doors after having received a mysterious phone call. Later Finzi discovers through a newspaper about a girl found dead and by her watch and shoes he recognizes that she's really Suzy, who has been missing for some time. The funny detective starts his first investigation with the help of his faithful assistant Ciammarica (Cannavale), a retired former carabiniere. Cinevox Record had issued a 45 rpm single (MDF 114) from "Tre tigri.."and a 45 rpm single (MDF 128) from "Agenzia Riccardo Finzi.". Originating from the stereo mastertapes archived at Cinevox, our CD has a duration of 60:46 minutes and it contains everything recorded for both movies. For "Tre tigri.." the De Angelis brothers have written pleasant folkloristic music like a dance floor tango for saxophone (Tr.1), a folkloristic waltz (Tr.2), a classic kind version of the main theme (Tr.3) and other instrumental variations, suspense music with Afro sound(Tr.5), rhythmical and fast rock music for a chase scene (Tr.6),an exotic Afro-jazz motif with Brubek style (Tr.7), rhythmical orchestral music with an epic flavour (Tr.9). For "Agenzia Riccardo Finzi.." the De Angelis brothers have composed a funny main theme for the detective with a '60s dance floor style (Tr.1) reused with variations in the OST (Tr.13,Tr.15,Tr.17,Tr.19,Tr.21) and alternated with sexy music (Tr.2), electronic suspense music (Tr.14,Tr.18), a romantic-burlesque motif (Tr.16) and a wild theme with a Disco style for a chase scene (Tr.20). A note for the most demanding and insatiable audiophiles: Some tracks from "Agenzia Riccardo Finzi.." have a barely perceptible electronic background noise in the high frequencies, but which cannot be eliminated due the fact that this defect is present in the only DAT master available at Cinevox. We are sorry about this problem, but at least two deserving OSTs have been rescued and preserved on CD.
