THE SHAMELESS WOMAN

SOUNDTRACK

Berto Pisano composed and conducted an OST with a lounge beat and evocative orchestral themes using the wonderfully sexy voice of Edda Dell'Orso (Tr.1, Tr.4, Tr.5, Tr.7, Tr.9), which evoke the sensual / erotic relationship between the adult man and the teen desperate for strong emotions. The main themes are reprised with piano only in Tr.2 and Tr.6. The atmosphere of apparent relaxation in the hotel in Ischia is created with pop themes written for Hammond organ and rhythm section. There is also a version with bass flute (Tr.3) and a faster version in Bossa tempo (Tr.8). The master tape in stereo of a rare promotional soundtrack album was found in the RCA archives. It was released in 1974 under the label Pegaso and contains almost all the recorded music from the film.

DIRECTOR AND CAST

Directed in 1974 by Giuliano Biagetti. Starring: Philippe Leroy, Leonora Fani, Barbara Bouchet, Maria Pia Conte, Dante Cleri, Serena Cociani, Filippo De Gara, Pupo De Luca, Dana Ghia, Stefano Amato.

PLOT

Nino Bernardi (De Luca), a factory owner from Milan, goes on holiday to Ischia with his wife Clara (Ghia) and his teenage daughter Ornella (Fani). A depressed writer named Fabio Lorenzi (Leroy), who had been Clara’s lover years ago, is staying in the same hotel.  Ornella takes an interest in Fabio as she is tired of flirting with boys her own age. She has fun seducing Fabio without ever indulging herself completely. But Fabio’s partner Silvia (Bouchet) arrives on the island which causes Ornella to become very jealous.

SOUNDTRACK

Franco Pisano composed and conducted an extremely romantic OST with a pop feeling. The main theme is introduced in the opening credits with Carmen Villani on vocals (Track 10), and then reprised in various versions: an instrumental variation which is syncopated and magical (Tr.12, Tr.20), a sweet and serene version with the voice of Nora Orlandi (Tr. 14), a version with an organ introducing the orchestra (Tr.18) and the basic version without vocals (Tr.22). Maestro Pisano also composed a recurring funk melody for guitars, tempo, and moog synthesizer which create a lounge atmosphere typical of that era (Tr.11, Tr.15, Tr.17, Tr.19, Tr.21). For this CD we were able to use the stereo masters from the recording session. This is a CD which brings together the great musical talent of the Pisano brothers, colossal names in Italian television and film entertainment.

DIRECTOR AND CAST

Directed in 1974 by Mauro Ivaldi. Starring Orazio Orlando, Carmen Villani, Pamela Tiffin, Dina Adorni, Mario Adorf, Edmonda Aldini, Gigi Ballista, Angela Covello, Alessandro Haber, Monica Monet, Elena Veronese, Martine Zacher.

PLOT

The rich Marco Donati is in love with blonde-haired Francesca, and so asks her to marry him. The news ends up in the column of a socialite newspaper which infuriates the many women Marco had collected during his career as a playboy.  One of them threatens to kill him if he doesn’t cancel his wedding. When some mysterious events prove to him that this threat is not a joke, Marco asks the police for help. Commissioner Egisto Marzoli investigates Donati’s ex-girlfriends,  but doesn’t come up with anything. When the wedding day finally arrives, there is a final attack against Marco which fails. At this point, the unpredictable commissioner discovers the phantom killer.
