Un bianco vestito per Marialè

“Un bianco vestito per Marialè” is the seventh volume of our “BRUNO NICOLAI IN GIALLO” Cd series. Directed in year 1972 by Romano Scavolini , “Un bianco vestito per Marialè” features a cast with some familiar faces from the genre like Evelyn Stewart and Ivan Rassimov. The peculiarity of the score is that it was not written by Bruno Nicolai, but by another great name of Italian Film Music scene: Fiorenzo Carpi and superbly arranged and conducted with his own and unique great style by Brun oNicolai (that’s the reason why we wanted enclose it in our series). In year 1975 (three years after the movie release), the Gemelli label issued a 33 rpm album (Gemelli GG.ST.10.021) containing 11 selections from the score with a total time close of about 37 minutes. Watching the movie on the italian VHS we could realize that there was a lot of extra music not enclosed on the album, while some of the album tracks were not used at all in the final cut of the movie! But searching particularly in the Gemelli vaults, we could discover two stereo master tapes with the whole score as recorded in October 1972. So forgetting the original album sequence, we selected, edited and restored the score in its chronological order as appearing in the film. The tapes were in fantastic conditions with a great separate stereo mixing. The score is dominated by the Marialé Theme both with Piano and orchestra and Edda Dell'Orso's voice and orchestra versions and several lounge and tensive themes. The complete 71’40” of this score here released is intended to be a sincere tribute to the great Music Art of Fiorenzo Carpi and Bruno Nicolai, two unforgettable composers.
