Digitmovies continues the journey of musical exploration in the wide territory of the Italian Western releasing on CD the complete scores from the films "Carambola" (1974) and "Carambola, filotto... tutti in buca" (1975), both directed by Ferdinando Baldi ("Blindman") and starring Paul L. Smith and Michael Coby (alias Antonio Cantafora, noted for his role in "Baron Blood"). These movies represent the comic side of Italian Westerns and were born as clones of the most popular fist-fighting comedies starring Bud Spencer and Terence Hill. In fact, actors Paul Smith and Michael Coby had the same mythical look of the Spencer/Hill duo. Franco Bixio and Vince Tempera composed the OST of "Carambola" and in 1974 Cinevox Records released a single (MDF 059) containing two tracks from the score. It included the Oliver-Onions-style Title Song "You can fly" performed by Dreambags (the same tracks appeared in Germany on the single Ariola 13823 AT and in France on the single RCA Victor 42526). The film was a hit in the Cinemas and generated a sequel in 1975 called "Carambola, filotto... tutti in buca" with a music score written by the prolific trio Bixio-Frizzi-Tempera. From this OST a single with two tracks appeared on Cinevox Records (MDF 071) then reprinted in Germany on the single Ariola 16142 AT. Searching for the music in the Cinevox Records vaults we discovered the complete stereo master tapes of both OSTs that have been lying there for more than thirty years. For "Carambola" Franco Bixio and Vince Tempera provided a superb Deguello in version with trumpet (Tr.2) and reprised on the guitar (Tr.12), Latin music like a Mariachi (Tr.3), a lively bamba (Tr.6), a funny Mariachi for moog (Tr.10), bringing the Blues (Tr.7) and the Jazz (Tr.9) in the Far West. The vocal-theme "You can fly" (Tr.1) is reprised in instrumental versions (Tr.5, Tr.8 and Tr.13). For "Carambola, filotto... tutti in buca" Bixio-Frizzi-Tempera composed a new song "Sky's Motor-bike" (Tr.14), reprised in instrumental versions Tr.17, Tr.21 and Tr.27. A new Deguello for trumpet appears in Tr.15, but also some latin music like a samba (Tr.19) and a Mariachi (Tr.23) enrich the score. "Coby and Len", the B side of the second single appears here as Tr.25 and reprised in Tr.26. Both scores feature music themes for chases and pursuits like Tr.4, Tr.16, Tr.24. Even a funny Scottish march (Tr.18) adds to the diversity of this album. Limited edition compact disc - 8 full colour pages de-luxe booklet.
