After “Il gatto dagli occhi di giada”, director Antonio Bido makes two years after in 1978 another thriller: “Solamente nero”. Initially titled “Dietro l’angolo… il terrore”,Bido shoots his second mystery movie in a winter and spectral Venice. The movie’s main character is Stefano (Lino Capolicchio coming from Avati’s great success ““La casa dalle finestre che ridono”), a math teacher who goes to Venice to take some relax and pay a visit to his brother (a priest) Don Paolo (Craig Hill). The priest is menaced with death letters, and a deadly chain of murders embraces the life of the two brothers. Stefano decides to help his brother, but the events will lead him to discover a terrible truth. Bido makes his most personal and best movie to date. “Solamente nero” is rich of original ideas, and has a directing approach which is far superior to the average of the Italian mystery movies of the seventies, with an exceptional cast and a moody atmosphere. The CD realized by Digitmovies is a re-issue of the 1995 CD , originally issued by Lucertola Media (LMCD 005). Completely and digitally remastered, the CD comes also with a new de-luxe booklet, rich of archive’s material, kindly offered by the director himself.
